‘Google Guaranteed’ Set to Give Toronto and Vancouver Service Provider Businesses a Boost
‘Google Guaranteed,’ a Google feature that refunds a user’s money when they are dissatisfied with a company’s services, has launched in Toronto and Vancouver this month. This innovative service is not only beneficial to customers, but also for small businesses, specifically service businesses like heating and cooling, plumbing and locksmiths which can employ ‘Google Guaranteed’ ads.
How Google Guaranteed Helps Small Businesses
Google Guaranteed is ideal for helping small businesses build trust with local customers. Because Google has verified the business and is backing the transaction, a business does not need to rely solely on reviews and customer testimonials to establish reputability.
Kim Spalding, head of Google Ads, told ITBusiness.ca “the goal is to connect customers with nearby services like plumbers, locksmith and HVAC, and ensure that those customers are connecting to trusted service providers.”
Google further helps local service providers by assisting them in setting up profiles which will allow them to buy Local Services ads. These ads, unlike regular Google ads, come with several benefits including:

- Verification process which requires insurance and licensing info be provided to Google
- “Guaranteed” badge which boosts the ad to the top of local related searches
- Verified reviews are visible to customers on a business’s profile
- Local ads allow customers to book appointments

About Google Guarantee
From Google’s site: “If your customers aren’t satisfied with work quality, Google may refund up to the amount paid for jobs booked through Local Services ads, with a lifetime cap for coverage.” For Canada, the max coverage is currently $2,000.
How Do Businesses Pay for Ads?
One of the other desirable features of Google Guaranteed is that the ads can be turned on and off. This allows businesses to use the ads to attract leads when they want to, and to turn off ads when they are unable to take more customers. More importantly, businesses only pay for the ads when customers reach out through the Location Service Ads – meaning customers must make contact before a business is charged.
Google Guaranteed got its start in 2017 and is currently available in more than two dozen cities there. The service has seen exponential growth in new members over that time – with membership rising into the millions.
